A bokken/daito is an ideal practice sword to safely practice your sword skills while protecting yourself and partners. Constructed from red oak and includes removable two piece hand guard.

The bokken is a common practice item within the Japanese sword arts. It was used primarily for sparring and kata training. However, a bokken itself is quite an effective item on it own. In the hands of an experienced Kendo master a bokken can be just as exact and devastating as an actual sword. In either case a bokken is essential for training in most Japanese sword arts.

This is the newest style of bokken.

The bokken is constructed of RED OAK. The bokken has been constructed with a high detail to replicate the look and feel of a katana.

The bokken includes a guard and securing ring.

I can't comment on durability and I don't intend to spa with this, but a substantial feeling bokken. Heavier than I expected, which is good, I suspect that this will prove a more than adequate tool for solo katas. The handle weave, guard and stopper all required a little glue to keep them from moving during use, but not a problem. The handle may be a little short for some as I achieved 2 fingers space between grips with a little leeway, but have fairly small hands. Obviously since this bokken comes without scabbard/saya/sheath it is not totally possible to practice drawing techniques but I am happy with it overall.
